Protective bellows keep abrasives and liquids out, helping to protect valuable components such as ballscrews and machine tool guides from damage. Bellows can also be used as a flexible seal between two joints with relative motion, such as bus bellows, or as airflow ducts in applications such as traction motor ventilation, engine exhaust/cooling, and respirators or ventilators. As a lift cover, the bellows can cover pinch points on scissor lifts or medical tables. Bellows also function to hide mechanical parts with the added benefit of dust protection, such as in medical equipment, gear shifter or joystick dust covers.The proper type of bellows depends on operating conditions, including mechanical and thermal loads on the bellows, the type of swarf, and the type of material present during operation. Bellows Options

End Frames: Typically constructed from steel or aluminum, end frames serve to connect the bellows to the machinery. Hennig provides a range of fastening solutions tailored to accommodate various bellows and machine interfaces.

Intermediate Frames: Intermediate frames, made of steel, are utilized to link different components, particularly when extended restraint systems are necessary. These frames are secured to the bellows using clamping rails and can be guided by rollers or pulleys made of plastic or brass.

Guide Frames: Guide frames are essential for ensuring the stability of the bellows, facilitating precise operation even at elevated speeds. Constructed from PVC, these frames are directly welded to the cover, with Hennig customizing their shape to meet specific design requirements.

Rollers: Designed for larger, heavier bellows, rollers are employed to reduce friction and enhance operational performance.

Couplings: Couplings are crucial for medium and large bellows featuring numerous folds, as they connect individual bellows elements. Both internal and external connection options are available.

Sheeting: To safeguard the bellows from heat, sharp debris, or mechanical stress, fixed or articulated stainless steel sheeting can be incorporated.

Scissors: Scissors are utilized for high-speed movement, allowing all components to extend uniformly across the entire stretch length. This design minimizes stress at the folds, thereby enhancing the bellows' durability.

Half-Shear: The half-shear mechanism facilitates the continuous extension of individual elements according to the desired length, improving durability by preventing the folds from reaching their theoretical extension limits.
